OASIS OF ALVIANO

The WWF Oasis of Lake Alviano includes all the typical environments of freshwater wetlands: swamps, ponds, marshes, meadows, hygrophilous woods, one of the largest in central Italy and preserves aquatic environments that have disappeared for over a century.

Precisely for this reason it has a special value, because with its 900 hectares it protects this unique treasure chest of biodiversity from hunting and building speculation.

The Oasis is part of the Tiber River Park, a Regional Park of Umbria, which also includes Lake Corbara and the Forello Gorges. Established in 1990, it is now a Site of Community Importance (SIC IT5220011) and also a Special Protection Area (SPA IT5220024).

The management is entrusted to WWF OASI, through an agreement with WWF ITALIA, the Province of Terni and with the company ERG, owner of the artificial lake.
